Robinson (author of the Annotated Checklist of the Birds of Tennessee), and discover the diverse array of colorful migrant bird species of Eastern North America in one of Tennessee's most rural settings! Tour dates are 6-11 May 2007. Bird watching in the eastern U.S. is substantially different from what we experience on the West coast. Consider, for example, the bright, lush green colors of an eastern woodland in the spring, the stronger influence that weather has on the birds that arrive in a given area, and the many species found east of the Rocky Mountains that do not occur in the western half of the United States. And, of course, we cannot forget the eastern warblers – one of the most highly sought-after group of birds in North America. This trip has been specially timed to occur at the height of the warbler migration season. About 37 species of eastern warblers are likely to be found in Tennessee in any given year, and we are likely to see between 20 and 30 of these amazing jewels of the bird world on this trip!Our destination will be Nashville, TN, and from there we will travel to Dover, TN where we will conduct most of our birding.
