There were no ‘surprises.’ Things happened as planned and plans for the following day were discussed the night before and then happened pretty much that way. There was enough exposure to the real Africa in terms of people, culture, language, flora and fauna that you felt you had experienced the country." Jimm Edgar (on the March 2006 South Africa tour)
"A great trip, as usual. Looking forward to the next one. Thanks for all the great help and info." Beth Hansen, CA

"My kids and nieces and nephews just love the North American Bird Reference Book by Lanius Software on CD Rom. I wanted to have a computer game for my younger nieces and nephews to look at besides the complex and sometimes scary games my older teens play with. I bought the Bird CD and it turned out we all had fun with it! The younger ones love to look at the pictures and listen to the bird calls. The older kids love to go out on the hills in the back and look for birds, come back to the house and check out what they have found. They can do this for hours! ... Thanks, Lanius Software, for developing such a great nature and bird learning tool that I think kids all over would have a lot of fun with. Much better than some TV shows or other computer games!" Marilyn Chelini, Dublin, CA
"Someone gave me the Bird Reference Book as a gift. My 4-year olds twins can sit for hours looking at the amazing quality of the bird pictures. The woodpecker is one of their favorites, since we have so many in our trees. Now when we go outside, they tell me all about birds. Why don’t you sell this in schools?" Karen Robertson, Mother of twins, Lafayette, CA
"Once we discovered the fun bird photograph and song quizzes, we simply could not stop using the software; before we knew it, it was past 3:00 AM and we realized how easy it would have been to stay up all night playing with this wonderful software!" Larry Arbanas, CA

The Wildlife Professional 2011

For some 26 years, Robinson worked as a biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) and then the U.S. Forest Service, carving out some ‘spare time’ in 1994 to launch LANIUS Software, to sell his books and software he coded. He changed the name to On My Mountain in 2003, when he began to offer birding and wildlife-watching tours. During all these years, he’s often heard variations of, “I’ve never seen a black birdwatcher before.” Hoping to change that experience, Robinson took early retirement in 2005 to devote himself to his mission of expanding the pool of minorities who enjoy nature, wildlife, and wild places. How does he hope to do this? By encouraging children to go outside to observe, study, and enjoy birds.
